IMO, I don't give a s***. Factions got their weekend events. Prophecies had it's time too. Let Nightfall have a go.

Well, Factions had events which were not in Prophencies. Maybe you can blame the canthan culture where halloween is not celebrated.

I think it is not a bad thing... Prophecies has Halloween and Christmas as main events. Factions has Dragonfestival (and Christmas??). And now Nightfall will have Halloween (and something else?)...
Hopefully people who have all chapters can enjoy these kind of events better spread over a year... AFAIK Halloween is end of October, Christmas is end of December and Dragonfestival is end of June (or begin of July). Hopefully Nightfall will bring a new kind of event too (end of April???). |

Halloween is probably being held in elonia only because of the release of nightfall falls on the same weekend as a halloween event should be held. unfortunate timing, but the are letting Nightfall people attend a halloween event that should probably just be for Tyria. As seen with other events post Factions release, they were held to a single continent. heck thats why i bought factions, was to go to the Dragon festival

Factions has the Dragon Festival.
Prophecies has the Halloween Event. I don't see why you have to complain. Plus, Factions is going to be dead after Nightfall comes out. Good luck. |

I'd agree that each installment should only get its one major event. The artwork required is too much to expect that it would be constantly translated to each new territory. Not to mention any sidequests that would have to be adapted to each new location.
However, I do feel Anet have mishandled celebrations and bonus weekends - allowing them to create too much unnecessary ill feeling. IMO, festivals should tick over automatically once a year, in their originating chapter. No silly changes or talk of "modest" events or "aged" gifts and "seniority". That sort of nonsense has me debating whether I even want to continue playing GW, to a point where I almost cancelled my Nightfall order, earlier in the week. Remember that all chapters are still in distribution, still on shop shelves - telling people that they are somehow inferior because they didn't have the game last year, or like me, simply missed the event, is not a good way to keep people feeling positive enough about GW to keep buying new chapters. Also, bonus weekends really should be global unless there's a good reason for them not to be (i.e. the bonus is Faction points). I mean why not? Again - make people happy, if you want them buying new chapters! |

The real reason is most likely the graphic work was already done for Prophecies and they could devote time to do them for Nightfall. They couldn't take away from Nightfall's release to do a big decoration/programming thing for Cantha. Buy all the chapters and get all the events - don't and you won't.

I really can't see how someone can go and get Factions before Prophecies though...That's like getting Halo 2 before Halo: CE or MGS 2 before MGS 1... (Despite the story in Factions that has NOTHING to do with Prophecies or Nightfall, in my opinion) You just miss a great story and game by doing so.
Prophecies "The flameseeker Prophecies, takes place in Tyria" Faction "The Jade Wind" in Cantha (stand alone story) Nightfall "continue of The flameseeker Prophecies, atleats in the land (Elona) and in the beautiful land of Tyria!" I feel for thoes who dosn't have Prophecies though, but that dosn't hinder you all from getting Nightfall, or Prophecies and take part of the event there. If you like GW you get the secual, simple as that. It's all marketing and it works. If you want to better understand the story and land of Nightfall you'd get Prophecies. Since they are connected! Prophecies events: Halloween, Wintersday Faction events: Day of the Tengu, Dragon Festival. Nightfall events: Halloween, +"something" So all kinda even spread. So, Unfair for thoes who dosn't have Prophecies or not gonna get Nightfall? i think not! Your own choice, you got it and decided yourself. Anet can't do anything about that.
